Elizabeth was known for her wit and was no exception to world leaders. In 2016, she met with Ireland’s Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness and was asked if she was okay. The Queen replied: “Well, I’m still alive, anyway.” During a photo op during the 2021 G7 summit, she quipped to Boris Johnson, “Do you look like you’re enjoying yourself?” The royal stood between the prime minister and the French president, Emmanuel Macron. Johnson replied, “Yes, of course we should enjoy ourselves in spite of appearances.”
