Prisco’s NFL Week 2 picks: Saints knock off Tom Brady again, Chiefs outlast Chargers in AFC West shootout

The first week of an NFL season is always so unpredictable. So after seeing what happened in the first week, I would be happy with the first week of my choice.

I went straight to 7-8-1, which stinks. I went 8-8 against the spread, which is so. But the good news is that I went 5-1 with my best bets as part of the Pick Six podcast. And if it weren’t for me to add the Jacksonville Jaguars as of late, it would have been a clean sweep. That too felt good for a while.

So let’s go back to what I call Get-Even Week in the NFL. Teams that look bad in Week 1 may not look the same in Week 2, while the opposite is true for some winners. It won’t always go that way, but I think it will in a lot of games this week.

It’s time to get the straight-up record back on track, but above all, let’s warm up to the best bets.

Thursday, 8:20 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime)

Featured games , Kansas City Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers

This is the game of the week with Justin Herbert against Patrick Mahomes. It’s a treat whenever they meet, and Arrowhead will be rocking a Thursday night. The Chiefs brightened things up with Mahomes against the Cardinals. But the Chargers can run a passerby with Khaleel Mack and Joey Bosa. Look for a high-scoring game in which the Chiefs have scored a close win.

to select: Chiefs 31, Chargers 30

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured games , Baltimore Ravens vs Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins and Ravens both won in impressive fashion last week, but now Miami has hit the road for the first time. The Dolphins dominated the Ravens at home last year, but this will be different. Ravens and Lamar Jackson get the best of the dolphins.

to select: Ravens 27, Dolphins 20

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured games , Cleveland Browns vs New York Jets

The Browns will face a familiar quarterback this week in Joe Flaco. He didn’t do well in the Jets’ loss to the Ravens last week. The Browns got a close win against Carolina last week, but they are home in it and Jacoby Brissette will play better for the Browns on his second start. They go 2-0.

to select: Brown 24, Jets 13

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

Featured games , Detroit Lions vs Washington Commanders

Commander is coming off a home win over the Jaguars where Carson Wentz leads them to a late game winning score. The Lions looked good on offense against the Eagles, but the defense was terrible. This could be the end of the shootout. Washington is the better team, and I think it will show. The commanders take it.

to select: Commander 31, Lions 27

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured games , Jacksonville Jaguars vs Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have not won at Jacksonville since 2014 and lost there in the final week last year, losing a playoff spot to them. They are also playing regular road games, while Jacksonville is playing its home opener. This is a big edge for Jaguar. The Colts rallied last week to tie the Texans, but this time they won’t rally to win. Jaguars will get their first win.

to select: Jaguars 26, Colts 23

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

Featured games , New Orleans Saints vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bux are constantly playing the road game after Sunday night’s game, which is always tough. But they are also widely abused. The Saints’ defense follows Tom Brady when his line is healthy, which is not the case. Watch the Saints’ rescue after last week’s struggle to grow up here. Saints take it.

to select: Saint 23, Books 17

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

Featured games , New York Giants vs Carolina Panthers

The Giants did some good work rallying of late to beat the Titans on the road. Saxon Barkley was special. He will again take the team here against a Carolina team that lost to the Browns last week. The Giants go 2-0. can you believe it?

to select: Giants 23, Panthers 17

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured games , Pittsburgh Steelers vs New England Patriots

The Patriots have been playing road games incessantly after their terrible performance in Miami. The Steelers are playing their home opener after troubled the Bengals. But the Steelers would be without TJ Watt, which matters in a big way. Defensive dynamic change. The patriots will hang out in it as crime shows some life in the end. Then they will win it late.

to select: Patriots 21, Steelers 20

Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

Featured games , Los Angeles Rams vs Atlanta Falcons

The rams must have been rested for 10 days after the terrible demonstration against the bills. Sean McVay is a very good coach to make up for that loss. The Falcons played well in losing to the Saints in a game they probably should have won. It’s a long journey against a good team to be focused on. Ram takes it big.

to select: Ram 31, Falcons 17

Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

Featured games , San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are 1-0, while the 49ers are 0-1. Who watched after week 1? Seattle did well to upset the Broncos on Monday night, but they are now out in a short week. it’s a challenge. The 49ers didn’t play well in poor conditions losing to the Bears at Soldier Field, but here that will change. Trey Lance has it going.

to select: 49ers 29, Seahawks 23

Cincinnati Bengals (-7.5) at Dallas Cowboys

Sunday, 4:25 pm ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured games , Dallas Cowboys vs Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals get a break to face Cooper Rush instead of Duck Prescott. It took Joe Burrow some time to go against Pittsburgh after sitting out of training camp, but he got rusty in the second half. I think it’s over. Cowboys are very limited on offense. Bengal won it.

to select: Bengals 27, Cowboys 20

Houston Texans (-10) at Denver Broncos

Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured games , Denver Broncos vs Houston Texans

The Broncos are playing their home opener after losing to the Seahawks on Monday night, which they should have won. The Texans did well last week tying the Colts, but it will be a huge challenge down the road. I think they can walk around in it, but the Broncos will win it late.

to select: Broncos 24, Texan 21

Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured games , Las Vegas Raiders vs Arizona Cardinals

Raiders lost to Chargers but played well. The Cardinals lost to the Chiefs, and played terrible football. Now they have hit the road for the first time. The Cardinals just don’t have the feeling of being a good team. Derek Carr lights them.

to select: Raiders 34, Cardinals 17

Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC, FuboTV)

Featured games , Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears

The Packers were terrible at losing to the Vikings, while the Bears jolted the 49ers in a driving rain storm. It’s a get-right game for the Packers. Aaron Rodgers and the passing game would lead it, and the defense would dominate the offense of Justin Fields and the Bears.

to select: Packers 34, Bears 14

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills (-10)

Monday, 7:15 p.m. ET (ESPN, FuboTV)

Featured games , Buffalo Bills vs Tennessee Titans

The Titans are coming out of a brutal defeat for the Giants where they have taken a huge lead. Now they head north to play a Bills team that will be rested for 11 days. that matters. Buffalo has had problems with the Titans in recent years, but that won’t be the case here. Josh Allen continues to roll big numbers.

to select: Bill 33, Titans 19

Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5)

Monday, 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN, FuboTV)

Featured games , Philadelphia Eagles vs Minnesota Vikings

It is one of the best games of the week, with two 1-0 teams pulling off impressive victories. The Minnesota defense against the Packers last week was excellent, but it’s a different style of offense. The Eagles will be rolling in a lot of points here, but the Vikings will have their place too. It will be a shootout in which the Eagles will get the best of it.

to select: Eagles 32, Vikings 26
