Kelly Clarkson Shares Emotional Post on 20th Anniversary of ‘Priceless’ ‘American Idol’ Win

Kelly Clarkson is reflecting on two decades in the spotlight.

The 40-year-old music star and TV personality expressed her gratitude to fans and reminiscing on Instagram on Sunday as she marked the 20th anniversary of her win on Season 1. American Idol,

Clarkson wrote, “20 years ago today I won American Idol and it changed the course of my life forever. That moment was the door that opened up so much access and opportunity, and creative partnership that I’ve been through all my days.” I’ll be grateful for that.” In a long post.

“The family and friendships I’ve built over these 20 years in music and TV have been invaluable to me,” she continued. “We only get so many trips around the Sun and while I’m proud and so blessed with the successes and failures I’ve learned from, I’m most proud and grateful to have friends who become family.” and their arms that I have held me when I needed it, and their hearts listened to me when I felt lost. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am. I might be here Wouldn’t happen at all.”

Clarkson thanked “every single person” who voted for her on the show.

She concluded, “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I hope you all have people in your life who fill you with laughter, and hope, and joy, and if you don’t feel like you have, keep searching.” Because I promise you they’re looking for you too.”

Since the musician’s “A Moment Like This” victory over Justin Guarini in 2002, Clarkson has won three Grammy Awards. The talk show named after him has also netted five Daytime Emmys.

So it’s no surprise that the busy mom of two, who is also a children’s book author and longtime coach SoundWas ready for some downtime last summer.

“I literally drive four-wheelers in the mountains,” she showed to TODAY August co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Carson Daly. “There’s a lot of water on my property so my sister, my nephew and I, and a few friends spent the whole summer in the mountains.”

When Daly asked if his children River Rose, 8, and Remington Alexander, 6, also took part in the fun, Clarkson said, “The kids were with me and their father.”

Clarkson shares her two children with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, 45, whom she split in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in March.

“It was nice because they usually have to travel a lot because of our separation,” she said of the family trip to Montana. “I felt that for the first time even my kids felt a little more focused.”

“It’s obviously been a few years, so it was really important for me to shut down for a minute,” the “Strong” singer told TODAY.
