Jason Momoa shaves off his signature long hair: ‘Here’s to new beginnings’

So long, scratchy.

Jason Momoa, 43, chopped off his long hair for a good cause yesterday, his new, shorter ‘do and shared a video on Instagram to draw attention to the issue of plastic pollution.

“Aloha everyone,” she began the clip, asking someone to “hand me those braids” as she snapped two pink scrunchie-adorned plaits from her head recently.

“Shaving off the hair,” she said, laughing and rubbing her head as the wind blew past. “Oh man, I never felt the wind right there.”

The shirtless star revealed he was “doing it to single-use plastic” as a woman buzzed the side of his head.

“I’m tired of these plastic bottles,” Momoa — who was named as a United Nations Environment Program advocate for underwater life in June — said. “We have to stop. Plastic thorns. All that s—t. It just goes into our land, into our ocean.”

The “Aquaman” actor, who was in Hawaii during the shoot of the haircut, said he saw marine pollution during the trip. “It’s so sad, so please, do anything you can to eliminate single-use plastic in your life. Help me.”

“For new beginnings let’s spread aloha,” the “Doon” actor captioned his post. “Be better able to protect our land and oceans. We need to eliminate single use plastic from our lives and from our seas. Plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, utensils. It’s all. Let’s alooh our ‘aina together’ Aloha J.”

The fresh cut came as a surprise to Momoa fans, with several Instagram followers commenting on the variation of “noooooo”.

The formerly shaggy-haired actor showed off his long locks at the August 23 premiere of “See.”

Marisa Tomei and David Bautista had similar views, commenting, “What!!” and “What?!!!,” respectively.

One fan wrote, “I can’t imagine how many women are losing their s—t right now,” while another added, “I never thought I’d see the day [shocked emoji] Somehow he’s still smoking hot—the man’s got a gift.”

Momoa’s trademark long waves were an integral part of her look for years — and her dedication to hair accessories was so strong that she even launched her own scrunchie collection.

“My wife will leave me if I cut my hair, so I don’t cut my hair,” Momoa said of his ex, Lisa Bonet, in a 2018 Daily Telegraph interview. “I haven’t been cutting my hair for a while, I’ll tell you that much.”

However, this isn’t the first time that the former “Game of Thrones” actor took to the buzzer for a good cause. Fans mourned the end of his signature Khal Drogo in 2019, when he shaved his beard for the first time since 2012 to announce his bottled water venture: his own company, Manalu Pure Water, which makes infinitely more recycled aluminum. and removes one plastic bottle from the sea for each equivalent purchased.

Now that he’s split with Bonet and back with girlfriend Eiza Gonzalez, it looks like the time was ripe for an even more shocking change.
