A federal grand jury investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol and activities pushed by former President Donald Trump and his allies to reverse the outcome of the 2020 election has sought information about Trump’s leadership PAC has expanded its investigation, Save America, sources with direct knowledge tell ABC News.

Sources said interest in the fundraising branch emerged as part of a grand jury summons seeking documents, records and testimony from potential witnesses.

The summons, sent to several individuals in recent weeks, are notably seeking to understand the timeline for the formation of Save America, the organization’s fundraising activities, and the money both received and spent by Trump-aligned PACs.

Neither a Trump spokesperson nor a Justice Department official immediately responded to ABC News’ request for comment.

Trump and his allies have consistently urged supporters to donate to the PAC, often using false claims about the 2020 election and rebuking the former president, his business dealings, and multiple investigations into his actions on January 6. Solicit donations for.
