Fantasy football Week 1 inactives: Who’s in and who’s out?

Which one should you start with? Who should you sit with? To help you set up your fantasy football lineup and avoid introducing a player who won’t be in the lineup, we’ll post fantasy-relevant updates and analysis here as NFL teams release their official inactive lists, Usually about 90 minutes before kickoff. Any ranking cited in this column comes from our ESPN Fantasy Staff Ranks.

Official Sunday inactivity should begin arriving approximately 90 minutes before the scheduled kickoff time, which includes approximately 11:30 a.m. ET for early games and 3 p.m. ET for late games.

Rondell Moore, WR, ARI: hamstrings- out
Influence: AJ Green primarily, and to a lesser extent Andy Isabella and Greg Dort, will receive an increase in hypothetical value.

Zach Ertz, TE, ARI: calf — Active
Effect: Although he will be playing, he will still be limited. Max Williams will get any overflow.

Alan Lazard, WR, GB: ankle — Inactive
Impact: Sammy Watkins could be pressed for a bigger role. Rookie Romeo can surprise skeptics.

Donald Parham Jr., TE, LAC: hamstrings- Inactive
Effect: Gerald Everett and Joshua Palmer both benefit as a result.


JJ Watt, DE, ARI: calf — Inactive

Trayvon Mullen, CB, ARI: toe — out

Byron Murphy Jr., CB, ARI: disease — Active

Drew Tranquil, LB, LAC: Back — Active

Jesse Jackson, CB, LAC: ankle — Inactive

Jonathan Bullard, DE, MIN: Biceps – Active

Aziz Ozulari, LB, NYG: calf — Inactive

Kayvan Thibodaux, LB, NYG: Knee — Inactive

Chris Godwin, WR, TB: Knee — suspicious
Impact: He is expected to play now, but may be handled with child gloves given his injury history. This is a very risky fantasy option for week 1.

Russell Gage, WR, TB: hamstrings- suspicious
Influence: Expected to be up and running with Mike Evans and Julio Jones.

Michael Gallup, WR, DAL: Knee — out
Impact: Noah Brown might get a bump. Jalen Tolbert is a potentially healthy scratch.

Jayron Kearse, S, DAL: neck — suspicious

1pm ET Games


Drake London, WR, ATL: Knee — Active
Impact: Saturday’s London workout tipped the scales for the rookie, who is now going to play.

JK Dobbins, RB, Child: Knee — Inactive
Effect: He wants to play, but the Ravens are going the cautious route. They will probably go with some combo of Kenyan Drake and Mike Davis in Week 1.

Laviska Shenault Jr., WR, CAR: Team decision- Inactive
Impact: Although he was acquired via trade two weeks ago, he is clearly not ready to compete with Shi Smith and Teres Marshall Jr. for goal.

Wells Jones Jr., WR, CHI: hamstrings- Inactive
Effect: The rookie will have to wait before challenging Darnell Mooney, Byron Pringle and Equinemius St.

Michael Woods II, WR, CLE: disease — out
Effect: Here’s another cheater who will miss the start of the first week. David Bell’s value rises slightly.

Ty Montgomery, RB, NE: Knee — Active
Impact: Ramondre Stevenson is the better flex play still.

Jacob Meyers, WR, NE: Knee — Active
Impact: Meyers should still end up with better stats than Matthew Slater or Kendrick Bourne.

Tre’Kwan Smith, WR, no: shoulder — out
Influence: You’re about to get acquainted with Chris Olev.

Michael Thomas, WR, no: hamstrings- Active
Impact: He’ll play, but Jarvis Landry could get a big fantasy boost if Thomas is unable to go full 60.

Zach Wilson, QB, NYJ: Knee — out
Effect: Get ready for about four weeks of Joe Flacco.

George Kittel, TE, SF: waist – Inactive
Impact: It would have been amazing to see the 49ers risk things here, especially with the incredibly heavy rain in Chicago. Tyler Croft to step up.

Logan Thomas, TE, was: Knee — Active
Effect: Limited in practice throughout the week, but will give it a shot. For fantasy purposes, it’s probably better to wait for week 2.


Marcus Peters, CB, Child: Knee — Inactive

Shakeel Leonard, LB, India: Back — out

Folorunso Fatukasi, DT, JX: calf — Active

Rakwon Davis, DT, Mia: Knee — Active

Paulson Adebo, CB, no: ankle — out

Tyrone Matthews, S, No: disease — Active
