Eliza Fletcher murder suspect slapped with ‘unrelated’ kidnapping and rape charges

The suspect being charged with the kidnapping and murder of a Memphis mother of two children now faces new charges unrelated to the kidnapping of Eliza Fletcher.

Cliotha Henderson, 38, who has been charged with first-degree murder and specifically of aggravated kidnapping of Fletcher, is now being charged with additional charges of aggravated kidnapping and rape.

A public information officer for the Memphis Police Department told Fox News Digital that the new heightened kidnapping and serious rape charges are “unrelated” to the crimes Henderson allegedly committed against Fletcher, but said he had shared There is no additional information to do.

Henderson is also being charged with illegal possession or possession of a weapon. On Thursday, a grand jury indicted him for additional charges, according to court records.

Fletcher was allegedly kidnapped by Henderson, who was driving the GMC Terrain, at 4:20 a.m. on September 2. Police say he was “kidnapped and forcibly” in the darkly colored GMC area.

Police say a surveillance camera captured the same GMC area in the abduction area 24 minutes before Fletcher was taken away.

Henderson was taken into custody by law enforcement officers on Saturday morning, but refused to tell police officers where Fletcher was, resulting in a massive search operation for the missing mother of two children.

According to an affidavit, two people, including Abston’s brother, Mario, told police officers that they had seen Henderson cleaning the interior of the GMC area with floor cleaner and washing clothes in the sink.

Police also say that Fletcher suffered “serious injuries” and “left evidence in the vehicle, e.g., blood, that the defendant had cleaned.”

Memphis police officers announced Tuesday that Fletcher’s body was found at around 5:07 p.m. Monday in “the back of an empty duplex apartment” where Henderson was reportedly seen cleaning the GMC area.

Officials did not release a location or manner of Fletcher’s death, saying it was too early in the investigation, and also did not release a motive.

Henderson is being held without bond in a Memphis prison, and is due in court on September 19. He now faces two counts of particularly serious kidnapping, one count of aggravated rape, two counts of theft, first degree murder, illegal carrying or possession of a weapon, identity theft, tampering with evidence. , and fraudulent use of credit/debit cards.
