fans of NFL can rest Knowing that Thursday night’s matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers will feature two of football’s top quarterbacks.
Chief Quarterback Patrick Mahomes told reporters on Tuesday that a wrist injury in Kansas City’s Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals would not keep him out of Thursday’s matchup with Justin Herbert.
“Yeah, it hurt a little yesterday, but it felt great today,” Mahomes told reporters. “So (I) came into the training room[and]got a little work on it.[I]really don’t have any time to work on this today but it’s already feeling a lot better so I’m I’m sure I’ll be good to go this week.”

Mahomes injured his left wrist on his first Five touchdown passes on Sunday afternoon, playing uncomfortably on his way to a 44-21 win. After the game, his X-ray was done, the results of which were clear.

“I mean, it’s definitely bad now,” Mahomes said on Sunday, according to NBC Sports. “Of course we went and looked at it, and got all the X-rays and stuff like that. Everything looked good. So we’re happy with it, and it’s a short week now so you have to be ready to go. But as the season goes on you’re going to have those injuries and things like that. You have to be able to play through them.”

“I mean they’re tough,” Mahomes said of Thursday night’s play. “They’re always tough because your body doesn’t necessarily go back to where you want it, but you have to find ways to fight through it.

“There’s good and bad at the beginning of the season because when you play a division game, we’ve studied the Chargers a lot in the off-season so it’s still fresh in your mind but it feels like you’re in the hit season. In the beginning you’re a little bit more nervous because you’re not used to them again. There are positives and negatives to it, but you try to get there and when it comes down to it you play your best football. End of the day. “
The Chargers defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 24–19 in Week 1 on the back of three touchdown passes from Herbert.
